This little bastard leads a life of leisure and just assumes hippiefied cat food will always be there, poop will always be scooped, and all he has to do in return is follow me around the house and look cute.

Cats really are the best. I love my puppy but snuggling her means getting crushed and weird smells. Doesn't happen with the cats

My big boy Tom Cat keeps my feet warm at night when I’m sleeping. Something the much smaller black cat in my house will never do. She’s, like, to good for that or something.

Sounds about right! Mine slept near my waist last night and wakes me at 4am every morning for a snack!

You haven’t met my cat, smashed face here will get too comfortable and let one go. Smells awful.

This dude takes over my foot space while I'm sleeping so I inevitably end up in some weird contorted position that my wife laughs at, because I'm both flexible and lazy.

Generally our 3 aren't too bad about waking is up but this one will sometimes make noises in the bedroom that he knows will wake me up. I keep a squirt bottle tucked behind my nightstand for such occasions.

We have 3 cats and a litter box on each of the 3 floors in our house. The one that’s most out in the open is one of those furniture hideaway li tterboxes. The automatic ones aren't really good for our use case.

I’m crazy because my cat is my buddy and I actually don’t mind her waking me at 4am lol, I just give her 4-5 pieces of food and go back to bed. She was a feral kitten and we tamed her, so she has some weird mannerisms, but she’s a sweetheart
. She has to ‘hunt’ bug
s and spiders (she’s an indoor cat)
every early morning / dusk, because that’s something her wild mother taught her when she was little and she can’t break the habit.
:)

Oliver is definitely my buddy, but sometimes he just acts out and the squirt bottle is a training reminder. And we have 3 cats total. It’s easier for me to get back to sleep after a quick squirt than getting out of bed, going downstairs, and feeding all 3 o f them.
I always make sure there’s plenty of dry food out before I go to bed so they’re not starving, they’re just nagging for attention and wet food. We give them lots of leeway but sometimes the humans gotta lay down the law.

His assumption is correct and is based on experience.
I’d like to be him right about now.

You want to poop in a litter box and eat cat food?

Sure if I can retire. And be a cat.
Could be nice to be able to claw up the house without consequences (other than a stern talking-to, which my cat self would be able to ignore).
